Willing To Give Me Custody

by C
(South Dakota)

My daughters mother called and said she wanted to give our daughter to me, or else to each have her 6 months out of the year. as of now she has custody. is there a way to do this on our own, maybe specific paperwork to fill out? We live in South Dakota. Also does anybody know. If you each have you child 6 months out of the year does anybody pay child support?

Thank you for your question. You can call your local family court and ask about filing the paperwork yourselves. You could look into shared parenting with neither person being responsible to pay support.
