Unable To Afford Filing Fees For Child Support

I have an 11 year old son. His father and I were never married. I have never filed for child support because up until this point, I was able to care for my child with minimal help from his father. In good faith, I always thought if that changed, he would help me support our son. This is not the case and I am now left in a situation where I require additional help from him. He makes his income is 4x mine.
I am the primary care giver and our personal relationship is becoming less and less agreeable. We had agreed upon a small amount of money weekly a long time ago and now that I need more help as our son grows and needs have become greater, he is unwilling to help. He is well aware of the child support guidelines, but tries to use fear to prevent me from actually filing- well, I have had enough, but find I am unable to afford the basic court filing fees.
