Teenage Mother With Child

by erica
(columbus,ga)

I am 17 years old with a son currently i reside with my aunt in her custody my birth mother pays child support to my aunt for me. But my dad now owns back child support and is not recently paying. The question is even though i am still under 18 and in school with a child does that mean my father does not have to pay because i have a child ? ..... and also if i go to college will my child support from parents still be continued until i am 21 ?

Dear Erica,

Every state has different laws and guidelines pertaining to Child Support. In most states you are emancipated at the age of 18. Here is a site that may help answer some of your questions.

Are you receiving child support for your child?
