Stopping Ex From Making Payments To Son

by Theresa
(Missouri)

I live in Mo. with my 18 year old son and 14 year old daughter. Their dad lives in Ca. and is over 40,000 behind in support. Since our son he recently turned 18, he has filed for the payments to now go directly to our 18 year old son, whom still lives with me full time. The dad, said he will pay, now that none of the money will go to me. My son is still in school as well as my daughter and I have raised them for 14 years with no support.

Can my son really start receiving the current support and past due support? On a phone conference hearing we had the other day with a hearing officer over it, he thought this was possible. Is it possible and if so, what can I do to stop this?

Hi Theresa,

If this does happen then you will need to file an appeal. You will be able to address the issues in a state hearing in front of an appellate board.. Have you heard any decision from the state hearing?
