Still Paying For 21 And 18 Year Old

by Robert
(Greensboro, NC, USA)

My daughter will turn 21 in July. My son just turned 18, but has one year left in High School. What are the laws for child support? When will both be dropped? I thought at 18yrs, the state dropped child support? The insurance company dropped my daughter as soon as she turned 18. What should I do???

Child Support Questions
by: Child Support America Staff

Hello Robert,

Do you owe any back support? If you do not then you should not still be paying at the age of 21, unless a court order states otherwise. Your son will be emancipated after graduation of high school, unless an order states otherwise.

Thanks
