Should I Get Child Support In Stark County Canton Ohio

I have been divorced for 3 years. We have shared parenting of our 5 year old son. I carry full health insurance on our son. The father has never paid any money to me and convinced me that with shared parenting there is no child support to be paid. I would like to know the laws on this issue. I am currently a nursing student with very little income a while his father claims to do very well financially.
