San Diego Child Support Enforcement

Here are some legalities and facts. Nineteen seventy five was the year that our congress did amend title IV-D of the social security ACT. This made it possible for every state in the U.S. to enforce a child support and spousal supportive program.

Applying for San Diego Child Support by mail

When sending in your application for services, be sure to always sign, print, and mail in your application to the DCSS. An electronic signature will be accepted for internet applications.

Coming inside the physical office location:

All applications should be picked up in person at the Department of Child Support Services at 220 W. Broadway on the seventh floor in the courthouse.

Application Advice:

Please be sure to take your time during the application process. If you fill out your paperwork correctly, this can ensure a smooth transition when collecting child support. Also please give the department a copy of any current order that has been signed off by a magistrate or judge.

Privacy:

Please know that the state and government laws are as such that your information is always kept private. Your paperwork is NOT public domain so the Department of San Diego Support Services will not give your paperwork to any individual that doesn’t have a legal right to view it.

Department personnel may only talk about your case with the custodial party, noncustodial parent, or their lawyer. They will not provide this information concerning one parent with the other. They also won’t give access to case information to any relatives or the current spouse of the custodial or non-custodial party.

• Go over your application and other paperwork
• Get certain questions answered concerning the process
• Offered at various locations in San Diego County

You can also obtain information on subject matters such as paternity and genetic testing. And for individuals who have military child support orders, you can obtain information as well. Again, the San Diego support enforcement department is there for you. Always remember that proper communication and cooperation is the key to a good relationship between you and the agency. Their number one goal is to provide a credible service for both custodial and non-custodial parents. The main priority of the San Diego child support system is for the betterment of the children.
