Paying Child Support After Losing Job


(Albuquerque, NM)

I was ordered to pay child support starting as of January 2011 but I was just laid off from my job of 4 years last week... Who do I contact and what do I need to do until I can find another job? Plz Help.

Unfortunately there is not much you can do if the order was just set. You can only file for a child support modification once every three years. Your best bet is to pay what you can until you are able to pay the full amount. Check out this link as well. http://www.child-support-america.com/new-mexico-child-support.html

You can always modify child support if the income change is more than 20%... file with the courts
