New Jersey Child Support Order And Emancipation Laws

by Ed Huber
(Delaware)

I have two children, custodial parent and myself were never married. Custodial parent used to live in New Jersey, and I currently pay New Jersey Child Support. However, custodial parent and children moved 2.5 years ago to Florida permanently. I plan on filing for NJ child support emancipation, but will the NJ court take into consideration the Florida move? As I understand it, Florida emancipation is age 18, however, New Jersey emancipation could continue on past 18...What should I do? Thanks for your help in advance.
