This along with other information on our website will always keep you informed so that you can better handle your case. Also keep checking back as this page will grow as new child support information and laws go public. The first thing we will discuss is something called flexible child support. We first learned of this term by reading an article written by Susan M. Brazas for Lawyers.com. Flexible child support can be proposed if future financial income is not known. Most states have guidelines with a certain percent that is set for child support. And if there is a dramatic change in a financial situation child support can be either be increased or decreased. So let's put the term flexible child support in perspective. Do you remember the name Levi Johnston? Well, he is the single dad who fathered the child with Bristol Palin who is the famous daughter of former Alaska Governor Sara Palin. After being ordered to pay child support for his infant son, Levi asked an Alaska judge if he could opt-in for flexible child support status. The judge did grant his request, and he was ordered to pay $1,750 a month. This order was based on Levi's anticipated yearly earnings of give or take $109,000. And this flexible child support status can get pretty tricky because a good attorney will dig deep into projections of what a person is expected to make in the coming months and years to come. This is exactly what happened to Levi Johnston during his case. The legal team for Bristol Palin recommended that Levi provide the courts with any agreements he had in place for present or future endorsements. The key point is the fact that Palin's legal team wanted to know how much money Levi is expected to make down the line. This case is centered around someone who has sort of a celebrity status, but it also applies to the average Joe. And in this case it's not necessarily fair because no one knows how long Levi's fifteen minutes of being famous will last. So stay tuned as this is only the first report on information concerning new child support laws.
