My ex saves all the medical bills

My divorce decree states that I must share any out of pocket expenses incurred for medical/dental for my son. My ex-wife in the past has either held several bills and sent them at once...sometimes for the entire year and then insist on immediate payment. He is currently in the process braces (which was never discussed with me first...and I am not being given access to his dentist) the bill is over $1000.00 for my share...I have told her that due to my current wifes fight with cancer I cannot pay the entire bill and she is threatening small claims court. Is there any type of limitation or order that addresses this type of situation? Since I am not being given access to his records and cannot verify this bill what would you suggest?
