Medical And Dental Support For My Kids

by Tammie Arnett
(portland oregon)

Next month it will be a yr since i was laid off from my previous employment of 4yrs. I was always the parent who provided health & dental insurance for both my children. Loosing my job meant loosing that option for my kids.

I found out coverage was available for my kids thru their dad's girlfriends work. I'm not sure exactly how long they were actually covered under her policy. But what i do no is that my copies of our final documented court papers state that i get to choose who covers the kids. I felt safer doing this myself. But whenever coverage is no longer available the other parent must provide that coverage.

I also elected to have my ex-husband be 100% reliable for any out of pocket expenses and or costs that were not covered. I just found out this morning that my kids insurance had been canceled thanks to my ex and his girlfriend. To my knowledge they cant just cancel my kids insurance. So im wondering if my facts are right?

Who do i contact to help me resolve this matter? And in the mean time what do i do about the dentist whose requesting payment in full on the account balance of $519.00? Technically my ex is 100% reliable for those costs. Please help me with this confusing issue or at least turn me in the right direction of who can help me with this.
Thank you so much for your time!

Insurance

Your best bet is to apply for state insurance. Take statements proving your children don't have any insurance. Take all past due bills and proof of your income.
