Lump Sum Child Support Resources

I received a lump sum for child support arrears and all future support. I have this money now and because I have this "resource", I no longer qualify for food stamps and I cannot even have my disability case (SSI) reviewed because I have too much money in resources. How can I put this money somewhere for use when my child and I need it? I am currently unemployed but when I was working I made 13,000.00 a year, for two of us. Texas

Your best bet would be to contact a financial adviser or an accountant and get a second opinion. A bank officer at your bank branch may also be able to assist you. Do you receive regular child support payments?
