Interest On Child Support

I didn't pay child support regularly in 2000-2003 and became delinquent. I have currently not missed a child support payment since 2004. My back due balance is 4500 dollars, but the state also says I owe almost 11000 related to interest. Is there anyway out. I made some wrong choices when I was younger and regret them, but I also have grown up.
