I want to forgive a child support order

by Cathy St. John
(Columbus Ohio)

My ex is now 60. He has been paying me for years on back child support. Our children are 32 and 33. His health is not good and I would like to forgive this debt. The children are married and on their own with children of their own. What do I do to get this done?

Go to your local child support division or where you files for support. Let them know you want to close the child support case and forgive arrears. More than likely they will set a date for the two of you to go in. If not they will just make you sign papers to close the case.
