How do I reestablish a child support order?
by Lisa Zinn
(Akron, OH Summit Co.)
I was divorced in Huron County Ohio in 2005. Prior to the divorce, there was an abuse investigation that took place. I was directed by the Huron Co. Ohio Children Services Agency to obtain a CPO against my husband and to secure a lawyer. At that time my daughter was just over 4 years old.
A 2 year court battle continued following the findings.I fought to have all visitations supervised in order to protect my daughter. Dispite testimony from Children Service workers and my daughters mental health therapist, I was not able to obtain court ordered protection for my daughter.
I moved to Summit Co. in Nov. 2009. I notified the CSEA and my ex-husband before moving. I also arranged visitation with my ex-husband. In May of 2010, I did not receive child support. When I called the Huron County CSEA to find out what happened, I was told my child support order was cancelled by court order. They were informed by the court that all court orders were to be terminated when the CPO ended. The court also told them the CPO expired a year prior and that my ex overpaid child support for a year. I have read my divorce documents over many times and cannot find where all orders are to be ceased upon termination of the CPO
I am having extreme financial difficulty and can not afford a lawyer. My daughter is only 11 years old and I need to get child support for her. Please Help!
Sincerely,
Lisa Zinn
