Getting Child Support Tax Offset Money Faster

My ex-wife does not pay her child support throughout the year. She instead waits until she & her current husband file their taxes & lets the IRS take the refund for arrears. I then have to wait 5 months to get this money because they file jointly & her husband could file "injured spouse", which he never has & says he won't. This money is probably earning interest for someone, but I have to wait for what I am legally owed!Is there a way to get this money quicker?

Dear Kurt,

Actually there is no way to receive your refund faster. The IRS must go through the proper procedures when they offset returns. Especially when an "injured" spouse is involved. Does the offset cover all of her back support?
