Collecting Child Support And Establishing Paternity In Military

by tarnisha durham
(columbia, s.c richland)

I am 13 weeks pregnant and the baby's father is in the military, married, does not want to own up to my baby, and has just been moved to Texas. I am unsure how to first get him here when the baby is born to take a paternity test and also how to collect help for the child when it is born as far as child's support. what do i do? Who do i call? What is the first thing i need to do?

Child Support

Hi Tarnisha,

The first thing you will need to do is after your baby is born open a child support case where you live. Have as much information about your baby's father as possible. This will help your case. Do you have his contact information such as name, birth date, address, phone number?
