Childs Father Has Stopped Paying Child Support

Richard Hughes is to pay $500.00 per month for our Daughter Jodee. He was living in South Carolina and now has moved back to Ohio and has been here for the past 4-5 months. I do believe he is receiving unemployment but is not paying any support and hasn't for several months. Jodee is living with me and we have moved into a home in the Canton South area. I am working and do not have time to call during the day. What can I do to get the ball rolling and start receiving support again. Please contact me by phone or email me to let me know what the next step is so that Jodee starts to receive money again.

Kind regards,
Kelli Roadarmel

Hello Kelli,

We need to know what state the child support order was started in, and what state has jurisdiction as of now.

Thanks,

What needs to be done to start receiving child support again and receive back ammount owed?
by: Kelli Roadarmel

I believe that support was ordered in the State of Ohio but Richard was living in South Carolina and monies were coming out of his payroll check As I had mentioned before he left his job and returned back to Ohio in March or April of this year. Stark Co Child Support should have this order on file and I''m not quite sure why they are not going after his unemployment Jodee and I both feel that he should be contributing to her upbringing. I need assistance that does not include retaining an attorney I can not afford one Please let me know what can be done

Kind regards,

What You Can Do
by: Child Support America Team Member

Even if it was started in South Carolina, Stark County child support should work in partnership with then to help to collect child support. If you cannot afford an attorney you should look into becoming a Child Support America VIP member.

Right now membership is only $5 and you get a lot of benefits and extra help. The price will go up soon, so act fast if you are interested. Click on the VIP Memberships button to your left for details.

Take care,
