Child Support Spouse Resposibility

I live in Georgia and I am about to get married in a few months, however my fiance has child support payments that he is responsible for. I would like to know when married does his responsibility become mine? What liability will I inherit from this situation? Lastly how can I safe guard my self from any liabilities of this child support agreement?

Thanks for your questions. No his responsibilities do not become yours. BUT, you can receive some back lash. If you file joint tax returns, the entire refund can be intercepted if he owes arrears. We suggest you file married but separately. Also if there is a lien placed on his bank accounts, and you have a joint account money can be taken. Even if it is yours. You may want to consider having separate bank accounts.
