Child Support Enforcement In Colorado

by Sarah
(Oregon)

My 8 month old son's father has said that he is most likely moving from Oregon to Colorado. I currently live in Oregon and have filed for Child support. I have been told that Colorado doesn't enforce Child Support, especially if it was filed in Oregon and that I will probably never see any of the money owed to my son. I was also told that there are no consequences for child support not being paid. Is this true? And if it is, how would I go about getting the money owed to my son if his father moves to Colorado?

Child Support Questions
by: Child Support America Team Member

Hello Sarah,

Some times people are "misinformed" and tell you in accurate information. Keep proceeding with the current order where you live. If he does move then your caseworker in Oregon will involve Colorado and deal with him in that state. There is nothing you can do, except just watch and see.

Thanks
