Can Unfair Child Support Arrears Be Removed

I served an 18 month sentence in jail and during that time my ex put me on child support. Meanwhile, I'm accruing all these arrears unaware due to the fact i was incarcerated. Is there anyway to have it removed for this duration of time?

Hello Greg,

You will need to contact your caseworker to see if there is anything you can do. Also arrearages are usually not waived because you are in jail. If the mother is not on public assistance, she can waive the back support. Have you tried asking her to do this?

i don,t get that arrears thing.my child is 22 this year and according to child support i am about 25 to 30,000 dollars in the hole.when i starred paying child support i was already was about 20,000 in the hole. they should be a law that will help out,a case like this.
