Can my ex retire and do nothing and have the child support lowered?

My ex retired from a stable military career at the age of 39 and recently moved to the same state that I reside. The first thing he did was take me to court and have the child support lowered. He is now paying $500.00 less and he is lying to the court about what he makes. I know when you retire from the military you get 50% of what you were making, somehow he is hiding some of the money. He was making over $6,000.00 a month and now he is reporting that he only gets 1927.00 monthly gross income. My first question. Is there anyway I can find out how he is hiding the money? Second question, How can the judge be ok with him just setting around not working?

The judge projected an income for me as if I were employed and used that in the figures for the new amount. How can she estimate income for me since I'm unemployed with 2 children at home and my husband is our only source of income and my ex just gets to do nothing. My husband is a school teacher and we are tying to survive on a teachers salary. This does not seem right to me. Thank you.

basic pay vs. bah

Half of the income is only based on the basic pay; not the bah; that's why it appears that his income is less...IT IS! There is nothing to hide regarding that.

ANONYMOUS IS RIGHT, WHEN YOU RETIRE YOU ONLY GET 50% OF BASE PAY! NOT ALL OF YOUR ENTITLEMENTS. THE AMOUNT HE PAYS WENT DOWN BECAUSE HIS PAY WENT DOWN. GEEZ! WHY DONT YOU GET A JOB AND STOP MOOCHING OFF OF OTHER PEOPLES SUCCESS!

GETTING THE BAD END OF THE STICK

I live in the State of Maryland, and I have been paying $750.00 per month since Aug 2001 for child support. The initial order was 1,011 per month, plus I paid 170.00 per month for health and dental care. My lawyer got it down to 750.00 on a 68,000 per year income. The problem, I am now retired with a combined income of $59,000 per year, including social security. I put my 12 year son down for ss and now she gets 1,008 per month. I am going into court to request a modification and not pay the 750.00. She is fighting asthough she is in Viet Nam. AM I RIGHT OR WRONG. She makes approximately $36,000 per. THANX
