Can Child Support Be Ordered If Child Was Given Mothers Last Name

Father is less than capable of taking care of child. He has threatened if he has visitation the child will be in danger, therefore father was not named as father in order not to give him visitation. Question is, can child support still be collected with no visitation and letting the child keep mothers last name?

The answer to your question is YES. Just because the child has the mother's last name DOES NOT exempt the father from legally being financially responsible for the child. If there are concerns about the protection and well being of your child during any visits then you should not only contact CYS about his threats but consider getting a legal order forbidding visitation because of his remarks and intents to harm your child. Have you filed for Child Support in your state?
